Cleopatra,the second post

Sorry that I couldn't put all of my knowledge on Cleo's life in one post. Here are a few little fun facts that I especially like about queen Cleopatra Thea Ptolemy of Egypt.

• Cleo married BOTH of anothrher brothers, AND had children with both Julius Casear and antother man, but, I won't say his name. Try to say it in the comments below.
• She was not actually egyptian. She was Macedonian. Here is the story summed up in a few sentences: Alexander the great had conquered egypt. Alexander died. Generals went srambling for countries. Macedonian general grabbed egypt, and claimed himself king.
• Cleopartra had one sister called Cleopatra, two not called Cleopatra, and two brothers called Ptolemy. Confused??? You will be!

• She dined off plates of GOLD.

Cleopatra had many things to boast about, but her greatest love of her life was probably Egypt itself.

Mummification

''Mummification'' Is how the ancient Egyptians prepared the dead pharaoh (ruler). Here below is how they did it.
1. They washed the body in wine, and the water of the nile.
2. Clean the lungs, intestines, liver and stomach, and pop in special jars.
3. Use a special egyptian salt to fill in the rest of the body.

This, of course, is only a brief. The egyptians also took out the brains through a hook that went up their nose, and, i've heard that they would leave the heart inside of the body. This is how the body would be protected in the afterlife, by the gods. Some believed that they, once prepared and dead, would go on a journey to the afterlife. All that I can summ it up in is; The ancient Egyptians were very religous!

Egypt words

Alexandria - Alexandria is a Egyptian city that was built for Alexander the Great. 

Crown - These are what the rulers of Egypt wore on their heads.

Clepatra - The Ptolemies called most of their daughters Cleopatra.

Famine - During the reign of Cleopatra, there were some years of famine throughout the country.

Horus - One of the Ancient Egyptian gods.

Isis - Another ancient Egyptian godess.

Kings - The men who ruled Ancient Egypt where called kings.

Nile - This is one of the biggest rivers in the world, running through Egypt.

Osiris - Isis's husband and another god.

Ptolemy - Cleopatra's surname.

Pyramids - These landmarks are at Giza, and other places in the world.

Queen - There where also queens of Egypt, too.

River - The Nile was the great river that is basically Ancient Egypt's live source.

There are many other words to do with Egypt - But these are good to start off with. 

Egyptian gods

Ancient Egyptians have had many gods throughout their years as a great civilisation. Ra, the greatest god of them all, is the god of the Sun. Isis is the god that Cleopatra loved dressing up as. Osiris, her husband was killed by his brother and was cut into so many tiny pieces. Isis had magic so strong that she sort of brouht him back to life, and still had a baby with him. Their child, Horus, looked like Ra because he had a bird head. The Ancient Egyptians believed that their kings and Queens where decsended from these gods. This is why their rulers where respected so much. Julius Caeasar thought that this was a good idea, and wished that he was king of Rome, instead of having a republic who decided things.

Cleopatra

Queen Cleopatra was the last queen of Egypt.

She is dead famous for having a thing with Julius Caesar, killing herself with a cobra, and being very pretty. She spoke nine languages, and seldom needed a translator when trading with other countries. Although, scientists are now questioning, did Cleopatra really die from a snake bite? Here are the clues: According to the rumor, she brought the snake in a basket to her tomb. Snake experts say that, apparently, a Cobra, the murderer, would be too big to fit in a basket. Also, snakes seldom actually inject poison into their bites, so could the Cobra really kill her? The snake would have been so big, that it couldn't have been taken into Cleopatra's tomb without raising a few eyebrows. So did Cleopatra really die from a snake bite? Some believe she may hve taken a cocktail of poison.

The Nile

The Nile - What isn't it for Ancient Egypt? It was how they got their water, their crops were grown on the flooded banks, it was how they worked out the taxes, it  was everything yet still a great river. Every year it flooded, leaving wet banks where the  crops and food was grown. They ancient Egyptians had a scale of reading the depth of the water, which was how they worked out how much food the farmers could keep, and how much they could give to the market to feed the rest of Egypt. The richer people would go out on boat rides, and, on the odd occasion, would swim in the Crocodile-invested waters. Because of these beasts, the Egyptians would throw their enemies in the water for the Crocodiles to eat.
This is also how the Egyptians built the great pyramid; they shipped the limestone blocks up the river to the building-site, and so on and so on.
